Why it holds up
A certificate is easy to print. A credential has to survive being checked.

The record is public, the evidence is not
Anyone with the credential ID can confirm it is real, current, and unrevoked. Scores, attempts, and personal details stay with the learner unless they choose to share them.
It stays true after it is issued
Credentials can expire and can be revoked. A record that changes state changes on the verifier the same day, so nobody is checking a snapshot from last year.

What exactly is a Skills Global credential?
A dated, ID-bearing record that a named person passed a specific assessment on a specific date. It states what was assessed and whether the credential is still active. It is not a certificate of attendance and it is not issued for completing material alone.
How does someone verify a credential?
They enter the credential ID into the public verifier. It returns the holder, the credential, the issue date, and the current status — no account, and no contact with us, required.
Can a credential be revoked?
Yes. Credentials can be revoked for cause and can carry an expiry date. Either change is reflected on the public verifier the same day, so a revoked credential stops verifying rather than quietly staying valid.
What happens to a failed attempt?
It is recorded against the learner and it does not appear on the public record. Resits are allowed; the credential is issued on a pass, and the public record shows the credential, not the attempt history.
Who can see a learner’s data?
The learner, and whoever they hand a credential ID to. The public verifier exposes only what is needed to confirm the credential is genuine and current. Scores, attempt counts, and contact details are never part of that response. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
What does it cost?
Courses and assessments are priced individually, and some are sold together as a bundle at a stated price. You are told the price before you pay, and the assessment you have paid for is the one you can sit.
A credential is only worth what it survives.
